Shawna E.M. Snyder graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in Watertown, MA (the oldest acupuncture school in the U.S.), with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, specializing in both Chinese Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, low-income clinics and HIV clinics.
Shawna realized she wanted to become an acupuncturist while at the University of Vermont where she was studying pre-medical courses. During her last year at UVM, she volunteered at an AIDS patient advocacy organization where she created a program to help patients have access to complementary and alternative medicine, like acupuncture. She interviewed potential practitioners for her program and met several acupuncturists in the process. The acupuncturists she met were happy and believed truly in the service that they had to offer to people. Another aspect of Shawna's decision in becoming an acupuncturist is that she had tried acupuncture as a patient for pain management and it had provided her immense relief. The rest is history as they say.
Because every patient is different, every treatment regimen is unique. Shawna uses acupuncture, acupressure, non-needle techniques, massage, aromatherapy, and Chinese herbal medicine, individually and in combination, to achieve optimum results.
Shawna hosts her own radio show, To The Point with Dr. Shawna, where she discusses how acupuncture and other complementary therapies can help you live a healthier life.
